Understanding Anxiety
Anxiety disorders are characterized by excessive fear, worry, and behavioral disturbances that are disproportionate to the actual threat. These include GAD, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety, and Phobias. They are among the most common and highly treatable psychiatric conditions.
Signs and Symptoms
- Persistent, difficult-to-control worry
- Restlessness or feeling “on edge”
- Muscle tension & somatic complaints
- Difficulty concentrating or mind going blank
- Irritability & Sleep disturbances
- Panic attacks (sweating, palpitations)
- Avoidance of anxiety-provoking situations
- Hypervigilance or exaggerated threat perception
When to Seek Professional Help?
Early treatment reduces chronicity and functional impairment. Consider evaluation if:
- Anxiety is persistent (weeks to months) and difficult to control.
- It interferes with work, relationships, or daily functioning.
- There is avoidance of important social or occupational situations.
- Panic attacks or significant physical symptoms are present.
Treatment Approach
Our psychotherapy-focused interventions are tailored to your specific condition:
Gold-standard intervention targeting catastrophizing and overestimation of threat through cognitive restructuring.
Systematic, graded exposure to feared stimuli to reduce avoidance and facilitate habituation.
Encourages acceptance of internal experiences while engaging in valued action to increase psychological flexibility.
Improves attentional control and reduces rumination through MBSR and MBCT adaptations.
Focuses on changing beliefs about worry itself, especially effective for Generalized Anxiety (GAD).
Targets communication and assertiveness for Social Anxiety, often combined with exposure work.
