Dr.Medha Gaurav
PSY.D Clinical Psychology | Evidence Based Psychotherapies For Adult | Child & Adolescents' Mental Health
Professional Profile
I am a clinical psychologist with a strong academic foundation and a deep commitment to meaningful, evidence-based mental health care. I hold a PsyD in Clinical Psychology, along with an M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology and a B.A. (Hons.) in Psychology.
My clinical work is further enriched by specialized training and certifications in Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT).
My primary areas of interest include child and adolescent mental health and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), though my work is not confined to a single framework. I adopt an eclectic, client-centred approach, drawing from multiple evidence-based modalities to tailor therapy to each individual's unique needs.
Clinical Approach
I do not view therapy as merely a process of symptom reduction or quick fixes. My work focuses on understanding the deeper processes that maintain distress—including patterns of thinking, emotional regulation difficulties, interpersonal dynamics, and early developmental experiences.
Where required, therapy may involve structured, skills-based work; at other times, it may involve slowing down, building insight, and working through more complex emotional layers. The pace and direction are always collaborative.
Core Beliefs
- Distress is meaningful, not arbitrary — Every emotion and symptom carries important information.
- Change is sustainable only when underlying mechanisms are addressed — Surface-level interventions rarely create lasting transformation.
- A safe, non-judgmental therapeutic space is essential for real work to happen — Trust and safety are the foundation of all therapeutic change.
Therapeutic Orientation
My work integrates multiple evidence-based frameworks, allowing flexibility in meeting clients where they are, rather than fitting them into a rigid model.
Areas of Work & Assessment
I work with both children and adults, offering psychological assessment and intervention across a range of concerns. These assessments are used not just for diagnosis, but to build a comprehensive understanding of the individual, which then informs intervention planning.
Personal Motivation & Vision
My interest in this field comes from a growing recognition of how unaddressed psychological distress quietly shapes people's lives—often without language, support, or understanding.
In the Indian context, mental health continues to be surrounded by stigma, misinformation, and limited accessibility. My work is guided by a larger aim to:
- Contribute to reducing taboo and normalizing help-seeking
- Make mental health care more accessible, informed, and humane
- Offer care that is not only clinically sound, but also deeply respectful of individual experience
